N.T. Wright, guitar hero…

So I just spoke with my wife on the phone and told her I’d be home in a second.  But before I got up I looked at internetmonk.com real quick and saw a picture of Bob Dylan… and then I saw a picture of N.T. Wright holding a guitar… and then I found a link to N.T. Wright singing a Bob Dylan song.  I prefer Dylan’s version better.  But other than that, this is the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced in the past twenty minutes…

Here is the link to him singing… apparently he gives a talk afterwords that I haven’t yet listened to…

imonk did it again…

So I discovered Michael Spencer at Internetmonk.com back before blogging was cool (and I was still in high school).  At that point in my life, his outspoken calvinism and reformed views resonated with me.  He has changed quite a bit (and so have I) since those days, but his writing has only gotten better.  I really appreciated this recent post of his concerning the REAL prosperity gospel…

I don’t know of many Christians who want to stand up in front of a room full of unbelievers and say “I live in the same world as you do; a world with the same problems, the same questions and the same kinds of pain and failure. God doesn’t provide some kind of insurance or protection from this world, and Christians aren’t wise enough to understand or fix everything in this world. In some ways, you (atheists) may be wiser than any one of us. What we have to offer is the gospel of Jesus, and the truth of the gospel isn’t a pay off in this world. Whatever changes the Gospel makes in us, we remain human, fallen and in need of final rescue, redemption and resurrection. There is plenty wrong with us, and some of it is shocking and terrible. In this world, we’re on a pilgrimage to follow Jesus, to love neighbor and to live our lives in an authentically human way.”

It was only a matter of time…

It was only a matter of time before this would happen.  Sometimes I get sick at Christianity’s attempts to create a subculture identical to the main culture in every way, minus the curse words.  Its real.  Go to guitarpraise.com.

I was a little sick until I realized that this company already made a rip off of that dancing game.  Then I was a lot sick.  I’m not gonna lie, guitar hero is a cool game, and its a fun thing to do with your youth group; however, the lyrics can sometimes be questionable.  So this would potentially fix that.  But I’m not sold until they come out with “Praise Band.”  And they should incorporate a “Praise team” mode in which there are four vocalists singing to a track.  And they should add in some traditional church instruments like an organ.  Or maybe a “Church Choir” game would be a good idea.  And then theres always the possibility of “Pulpit Hero.”  I should go into the exploiting the gullibility of Christians business… I bet i’d make millions.
